  • What is Spravato?

    • Spravato is a prescription medicine, used along with an antidepressant taken by mouth to treat: Adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) or depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) with suicidal thoughts or actions.

    How do I take Spravato?

    • You will take Spravato nasal spray yourself, under the supervision of a healthcare provider in a healthcare setting. Your healthcare provider will show you how to use the Spravato nasal spray device. After you administer Spravato there will be an observation period of at least two hours, during which you will rest comfortably while a healthcare provider monitors you for possible side effects.

    What are the side effects?

    • Common side effects usually occur right after taking it and go away the same day. Some include; Increased blood pressure, problems with thinking clearly, bladder problems, dizziness, nausea, feeling anxious, lack of energy, vomiting, feeling drunk, feeling very happy or excited, spinning sensation, feeling sleeping, decreased feeling of sensibility (numbness and or feeling disconnedted from yourself, your thoughts, feelings and things around you.

    How long do I have to take Spravato? 

    • After the first four weeks of treatment you and your doctor will determine if treatment should be continued, as well as the dose, and how often you'll receive it. Spravato is taken twice a week for the first four weeks. Then for the next four weeks, once a week. After week 8, Spravato is taken once a week or once every other week.

    How soon will I see results? 

    • Between 24 hours and four weeks.

    Follow-Up Medication Management Visit: Follow-up visits for medication management usually range from 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your treatment plan and progress.
    Therapy Sessions: Standard therapy sessions are scheduled for 45 to 60 minutes. This duration ensures ample time for meaningful discussion and therapeutic work.
    Spravato (Esketamine) Treatment: Each Spravato treatment session lasts approximately 2 hours. This includes administration of the medication and the necessary observation period to ensure safety and effectiveness.
